Niagara Soccer Association (NSA)

Last Updated: 01/12/2026

The Niagara Soccer Association (NSA) is committed to transparency regarding insurance coverage, liability, and participant responsibility. This page outlines the general insurance framework applicable to NSA-sanctioned activities and clarifies the responsibilities of participants, parents, clubs, and officials.

1. Insurance Coverage Overview

NSA may carry insurance coverage applicable to sanctioned leagues, events, and activities. Coverage, where in place, is intended to provide general protection and does not replace personal insurance.

Insurance coverage may include:

  • General liability insurance

  • Accident or injury coverage (limited and conditional)

  • Coverage for NSA-approved officials and volunteers

Coverage terms are governed by the insurance provider’s policy and conditions.

2. Who May Be Covered

Insurance coverage, where applicable, may extend to:

  • Registered players

  • Registered coaches and officials

  • Approved volunteers

  • NSA board members and administrators

Coverage typically applies only when individuals are:

  • Properly registered

  • Participating in NSA-sanctioned activities

  • Acting within the scope of their approved role

3. Limitations of Coverage

Participants should be aware that:

  • Insurance coverage is limited in scope

  • Not all injuries or incidents are covered

  • Deductibles, exclusions, and caps may apply

  • Coverage does not replace provincial health insurance or private coverage

NSA makes no guarantee that any specific claim will be approved.

4. Participant Responsibility

All participants (or parents/guardians of minors) are responsible for:

  • Maintaining their own medical and personal insurance

  • Understanding the risks associated with participation

  • Complying with NSA’s Rules & Regulations, Safeguarding Policy, and Code of Conduct

Participation in NSA activities is voluntary and undertaken at one’s own risk.

5. Injury Reporting & Claims

In the event of an injury or incident:

  1. Seek appropriate medical attention immediately

  2. Notify a team official or NSA representative as soon as possible

  3. Complete an official Incident or Injury Report Form

Timely reporting is essential for any insurance review or claim consideration.

6. Liability Disclaimer

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • NSA is not liable for personal injury, loss, or damage arising from participation

  • NSA is not responsible for personal property loss or theft

  • NSA is not liable for incidents occurring outside sanctioned activities

Liability waivers may apply and are required during registration.

7. Facilities & Third-Party Providers

  • NSA does not own or control all facilities used for matches or training

  • Facility operators may carry separate insurance

  • NSA is not responsible for the condition of non-NSA-owned venues

Participants are expected to follow all posted facility rules.

8. Travel & Transportation

Unless expressly stated:

  • Transportation to and from NSA activities is the responsibility of participants or guardians
